Who Said Being Dead Means Anything?

Death, apparently, doesn't mean you can't come out with new books. Check out this article in the New York Times about Robert Ludlum, who died in 2000.

Something to look forward to from heaven (or the other place), if your brand is wanted by the public.

I found it interesting; if people are willing to pay for the books, why not?

His heirs must be quite happy.

I suspect most writers would take any sale they can get living or dead!

Hey, if your family can get a nickel after you die, why not? I would be happy about it. What is sad is when someone dies then wins a Pulitzer. There was this one author who wrote a book, couldn't get published, committed suicide in despair, and years after his death his mom got him published. He won a Pulitzer.

But I'm too lazy to research this so I cannot say who they gentleman was. Sad tale, though, that stuck with me.

I think I know who you're talking about - John Kennedy Toole? For some reason, the name of the book popped into my head: A Confederacy of Dunces.

He committed suicide in 1969, but his book wasn't published until well after that (after his mother decided to do something with it); he received the Pulitzer in 1981.

So sad.
